Mulkirigala Rock Temple

From Tangalle you have to travel 16km on Beliatta road to Mulkirigala Rock Temple. You can climb the rock to see the large reclining Buddha statue and many other Buddha statues in caves and also the Dagoba on top of the rock.

There are other ancient temples where you can visit between Tangalle and Hambantota. Henekaduwa Rajamaha Viharaya and Netolpitiya Purana Viharaya are among them.

You can also see thousands of birds near by Rakawa and Kalamatiya lagoons. Rakawa is famous for turtle watching, especially during the season between February and June. The Turtle Conservation Project is there to get assistance in turtle watching.
